Springboard UK

Springboard UK is a subsidiary of Angus Reid Strategies, a well respected research firm that has offices in London, as well as globally. Their primary aim is to gather information on the thoughts and opinions of UK residents, to provide companies with knowledge on what the public wants of their products and services. Therefore they are always seeking members to be a part of their survey panel. As a Springboard member you can participate in surveys that give you the opportunity to share your opinions, as well as the opportunity to receive payment for sharing these opinions. Each survey could earn you between 50p and £2.50, depending on the surveys’ length and complexity; plus some surveys may even award you with entries into prize draws. All survey payments are accrued in your Survey Cash account, with payouts made redeemable after £30 has been reached. Payouts can also be donated to selected UK charities on your behalf.

Comment: Takes FOR EVER to reach the £25 needed (NOT £30 as stated above) about THREE years, actually.

I claimed my £25 in mid February 2103 and am still awaiting PAYMENT. Have emailed them TWICE about it and received NO REPLY.

They are actually trading on your views and definitely not paying for them - or VERY reluctantly - that is, if I DO receive my pament!

Comment: Springboard UK–

Springboard UK is an online research panel created by Vision Critical who has offices around the world including London and was founded by Angus Reid a market research leader for more than three decades.
“Springboard UK is run by a small and dedicated team” who endeavour to make sure members experience is a good one.

Visiting the website presents me with a very attractive and clearly designed home page, the main banner of which depicts an interesting portrayal of British life incorporating a blend of country life and industry.
A brief welcome panel explains the site and a clickable button if I wish to learn more.
A further selection of buttons lead to:-
“Survey Cash” - how I can earn between 25p and GBP2 for each survey, and how, when I reach GBP25 I am able to redeem my survey cash for a personal cheque or donate it to charity. More about rewards and redemptions later.
“Winners” – New members are entered into a “Special Draw” which occurs every six months and carries a first prize of GBP200 cash and four GBP25 internet shopping vouchers.
Some surveys carry entries into a separate quarterly prize draw which carries a first prize of GBP500 cash and five GBP50 internet shopping vouchers.
There is no shortage of information about winners, the list goes back to 2009 and a postal address is provided for me to write if I want a full list of winners.
“Support & FAQ” – this presents me with a page containing a short list of FAQs, however, a link is provided to another part of the website which provides a comprehensive list of FAQs.
There are the usual buttons at the foot of the Home page for “Terms & Conditions”, “Privacy Policy”, “Contact Us” and “About Us”.
Panels on the right-hand side of the Home page provide “In the News”, a few items of relevant news and the results of some previous surveys, a link to further news items is provided.

When I log on I am taken to my personal status page where I am shown my current cash balance, a brief history of my survey participation and clickable buttons to take me to “Participation History”, “Update my Profile”, “In the News”, “About my Survey Cash”, “Support & FAQs” and “About Us”.
Exploring the website leaves me in no doubt that it is an impressive and well-constructed website that is clearly set out and easy to navigate.

I joined Springboard UK in April 2009; despite my profiles being fully completed I have since received email invitations to only 73 surveys, (about two per month). There are three main types of surveys each of which are mentioned below together with statistics from my own personal experiences:-

Normal surveys – 30 invitations, usually carrying a reward for surveys lasting 5 to 20 minutes:-
Reward 25p - 4 surveys,
Reward 50p - 22 surveys,
Reward 75p - 1 survey,
Reward 100p - 1 survey,
Reward 150p - 1 survey,
Reward 175p - 1 survey.
As can be seen, rewards above 50p are very few and far between.

“Daily Questions” - 30 invitations, usually 5 to 10 minutes originally 50p reward but in October 2011 this was reduced to 25p. Open to the first 2000 members only, so if you’re not quick – you miss out.

“Monthly Mosaic” – 13 invitations, claimed by Springboard to be “meant to help us get a better idea of your interests, habits and opinions on a variety of topics…. ….And every answer you provide helps us build that colourful montage that is YOU”, intended to give the impression that they are profiling surveys, but from experience they bear a remarkable resemblance to a normal survey - but unpaid. Usually 10 minutes – NO reward but entry into Prize Draw.

I have managed to complete a total of 44 paid surveys in the 34 months I have been a member of Springboard since April 2009.
I can’t honestly claim that Springboard inundated me with survey invitations, far from it, but I was always hoping that the number of survey invitations would increase, but they never actually did. The redemption threshold is a very high GBP25 and the problem with a survey site offering so few survey opportunities and such a high redemption threshold is that it always tends to give me a nagging concern that just as I am approaching the threshold, my accumulated wealth will expire, the survey invitations will stop coming in, or the survey site will disappear, or something else just as unexpected and unlucky – before I reach the redemption threshold.
Nevertheless, I gave Springboard the benefit of the doubt and carried on completing the surveys on what turned out to be a long, hard slog.

It’s not very often I indulge in unpaid surveys, however, on two occasions I have received an invitation to an unpaid survey in which Springboard were requesting me to tell them what I think about being a member of Springboard UK and how they could improve the member experience.
On both occasions, the two main recommendations I made were to:-
1) Lower the redemption threshold and,
2) Increase the number of paid surveys.

So far, neither has happened.

However, in November 2011, and after my “long hard slog” lasting 34 months, I achieved the GBP25 threshold and promptly submitted my redemption request – surprisingly through PayPal, and waited anxiously.
Fortunately, just over four weeks later my PayPal account was credited with the GBP25.

My concerns and doubts about Springboard were relieved.

However, I had to wait almost THREE YEARS before I could redeem my fortune; it would be such a simple but very meaningful improvement for Springboard to reduce the redemption threshold to, say, GBP10, particularly now that redemptions can be paid through PayPal rather than by cheque, which would be more acceptable to members, even if the survey frequency doesn’t change.

Whilst I am satisfied that Springboard is a legitimate survey site, in common with previous reviewers of Springboard here on Yellow Surveys, I am afraid I must echo their opinion that perhaps it just isn’t worth the wait.

I hope my review has helped you decide whether to join Springboard UK.

Comment: This is one of the worst survey companies of all.
The payouts are poor and with the way the rewards are set up I doubt very much if anyone ever receives anything for the considerable time and effort that the work entails.
I have received nothing at all after nearly two years of completing surveys for this company. A participant has to earn £30 before claiming his or her earnings.
I have entered over 50 surveys in this time and I am only just over half way there.
One to avoid.

Comment: springboard have rapidly become one of the worst survey sites out there, very slow to earn any real money, with a low amount of surveys and high redemption threshold. No wonder panelists are jumping ship, it seems that they have actually stopped paying panelists now as well. complete bunch of crooks, dont waste your time

Comment: I joined SpringBoard UK last December and have been taken part of their surveys actively. Their surveys are short and cover wide range of topic, from daily grocery, eating habit to economic and current affairs. Although the incentive is not massive (from 10p to 1 pound), it is fair for the short amount of time (usually 5 to 10 minutes) spending on each survey. Sometimes they only reward one prize draw (750 pound/quarterly draw) entry for one survey completion.

This site may look good but it hits its downfall recently. I used to receive 5 to 7 survey opportunities from SpringBoard UK, but the frequency decreased considerably since March this year. Approximately 3 per month and you are only offered prize draw entry for 8 out of 10 surveys. They have changed cash-out limit from 30 pounds to 25 pounds since then, but with current low number of surveys and 0 payment for completion (entry to prize draw is a test of luck, not an incentive), I don't see any point to recommend this site to anyone unless they get back to the top of their business.
